Action Date Ideas
67Did you know that 70% of first dates never get to a second date - first impressions are important.
Perhaps there isn’t any chemistry between the pair, perhaps there is little common interests or perhaps the date idea just flat out sucked and the date was always destined to fail regardless of any other factors.
Dinner, coffee and movies are the most common first date ideas and whilst they may work for some, they have too much opportunity for that dreadful awkward silence, little stimulus in the environment/activities that you can talk about if the conversation does run dry and limited or poor opportunity for kinaesthetic connection (kino).
Here are some much better date ideas that avoid these common pitfalls and should result in less failed dates for the wrong reasons - behold the action date:
Tenpin Bowling or Mini Golf or Pool
A fun sporting activity that anyone can play and has a low impact on the wallet – provides lots of opportunity for light hearted banter, some opportunity for kino and can be followed up with a quick drink, coffee or meal if you like.
Cooking
This works best if you have some culinary skills (even if you only have a few good dishes you can cook) – allows you to demonstrate higher valye (DHV) - a pick-up artist (PUA) coined term.
You play a directive role as the teacher, there’s a lot of stimulus for the senses and you get a (hopefully) good meal without stupid high restaurant prices.
If you aren’t much of a good cook you can attend a class with your dating partner whilst also pick up some valuable new skills.
Dancing Classes
Whilst it is likely to be higher cost that some of the other, it also is potentially much more rewarding with essential and great opportunity for kino.
Amusement Park
Plenty to talk about in the environment, impossible to get bored and thrilling rides that get the heart racing tend to create good conditions for attraction.
Canoeing
This depends on your location, but canoeing is a fun water-based activity that requires you to co-operate and work together to achieve a common goal - great opportunity for connecting and bonding with someone.
Nintendo Wii
A Wii session (Xbox Kinect or Playstation Move, if you prefer) makes the perfect end to a date (particularly the aforementioned cooking date - after your food has digested of course!) or excuse to invite your date into your house and escalate.
Regular PS3 and Xbox don't tend to be effective as they don't incorporate the same amount of body movement, the games tend to be harder to pick-up for someone new and aren't as chick-friendly.
Dog Walk
You both need a dog to pull this one off (you can always borrow a friends, I suppose!)
It’s zero cost (unless you have a friend that charges you rent for hiring his dog), both people and the dog’s get some exercise and you have an additional topic to talk about (dogs - if you couldn't guess!).
Hiking
Zero cost, you get exercise and there’s often good sensory stimulus in the environment that should give you additional topics of conversation.
Wine or Beer tasting
A topic for discussion, plenty of sensory stimulus and if you are very passionate and knowledgeable about your alcohol it gives you a chance to demonstrate your knowledge.
There's also opportunity to wrap things up with a lunch if you like...
